Gold On Top of the Charts Yet Again

The BBC reported this week that Abba’s greatest hits compilation, entitled ‘Gold’, has topped the UK charts once again, knocking Coldplay down to the number two slot. Gold is now the oldest album to top the charts. It is the fourth best-selling album of all time in the UK. Gold, which was originally released in 1992, had its last sales peak in 1999.

Due to the release and success of the Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan flick Mamma Mia, the international supergroup is finding a new and younger audience gravitating toward their music. The film – which is also a Broadway play – was written around the music of Abba.
