Jessica Chastain’s Oscar Style is Golden

Jessica Chastain, the talented actress who was up for an Oscar for her role in The Help, received extensive attention for her sartorial choice at the Academy Awards as she walked the runway in a black strapless Alexander McQueen gown accented with gold buillon and metallic thread. Chastain wore her hair less ornate, with the front pulled back and the rest grazing her back.

Reviews of the gown are mixed—while many praise the McQueen gown as a masterpiece, other draw comparisons to an oriental rug. What do you think?

Jennifer Lawrence Shines In Gold!

There has been much buzz about the new franchise Hunger Games coming to theaters soon and Jennifer Lawrence definitely made more buzz with her gold dress at the premiere. Jennifer wore an extravagant gold dress that would catch any eye and as the The Blemish said, could also make her look like the Oscar award herself. The Blemish went on to even mention yours truly by saying, "She must be hoping she can subliminally convince people to think “Academy Award” when they think of this movie. That or “how much money do you think Cash4Gold can melt her down for?”

The Oscars are almost here!

The Oscar awards are around the corner on February 26, 2012 at the legendary Kodak Theatre and everyone is buzzing about who will take the awards this year! The excitement comes with who will be wearing what, and which of their favorite movies will win. However, sometimes we forget about the iconic statue itself. Have you ever wondered what the actual Oscar Statue stands for and what it is made out of? Is it pure gold? The Oscar Statue is officially named the Academy Award of Merit and is one of nine types of Academy awards. The Oscar is made of "gold-plated britannium on a black metal base and it stands 13½ inches tall and weighs in at a robust 8½ pounds. The film reel features five spokes, signifying the five original branches of the Academy: actors, directors, producers, technicians and writers" (via Oscars.org).
Although it is not pure gold, it is still an exceptional piece of history. Will you be watching the Oscars? We know we will be at Cash4Gold!

Taylor Swift is a Golden Girl

Adorned in a golden Reem Acra gown, Taylor Swift was the picture of all things glam at the American Music Awards. The 21-year-old songstress sparkled in gold shoes, a gold bracelet, metallic eye makeup and of course the show stopping gown itself. The entire look was perfect for the statuesque golden-haired beauty.

Apparently, Swift’s fashion sense isn’t the only thing she’s got in her corner—the young lady took home three awards: Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Country Artist, and Favorite Country Album, respectively.
