CASH4GOLD SUPPORTS THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AS A PROUD SPONSOR OF ITS SALUTE TO THE ARMED FORCES GALA

Pompano Beach, Fla. – April 29, 2010 – Cash4Gold (www.Cash4Gold.com), the trusted industry leader in mail-in gold buying, will participate as a major sponsor of an upcoming Red Cross gala dinner honoring the men and women of the U.S. armed forces. The Salute to the Troops event, which also pays tribute to the Red Cross’ partnership with the military and recognizes the humanitarian of the year, is being held Friday, April 30 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Cash4Gold’s contribution as a “Thank a Veteran Sponsor” will provide seats at the event for six members of the military who otherwise would not have been able to attend.

Cash4Gold has a long-standing history of supporting the great work done by the American Red Cross. Following widespread wildfires in Southern California in 2009, Cash4Gold mobilized employees to make donations to assist with the Red Cross disaster relief efforts.

Cash4Gold also supported the Red Cross in its aid efforts following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January 2010. The world’s leading consumer gold buyer enlisted celebrities to help the company donate to the American Red Cross and gathered hundreds of shoes, clothes and other supplies which were shipped directly to Haiti to help those affected by the disaster. In addition, the company matched dollar-for-dollar the money raised by its more than 300 employees, many of whom had family directly impacted by the quake.

The pioneer of the mail-in gold buying industry also has been a strong supporter of America’s armed forces. Cash4Gold sponsored a series of clinics last year in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps that paired up soldiers being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan with mixed martial artists who taught them close combat and ground fighting techniques. The events benefited the Xtreme Couture G.I. Foundation, a non-profit organization established to honor and raise money for American soldiers wounded in action.

Cash4Gold’s various charitable efforts are described on the recently launched website www.Cash4GoldCharity.com. Visitors to the site will see photos and images from many previous Cash4Gold philanthropic endeavors, most of which have been fueled by Cash4Gold celebrity spokesman and three-time Grammy Award winner MC Hammer.

In late 2009, Hammer was on-hand with Cash4Gold in South Florida where the company is based, visiting ill children at the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital to spread holiday cheer and handing out Christmas gifts to thousands of deserving children and their families. Previously, the rap icon joined Cash4Gold CEO Jeff Aronson in distributing food to families hard hit by the recession in the Stockton, CA area. After widespread flooding in Georgia and a series of natural disasters in the Philippines, American Samoa and Indonesia in October 2009, Hammer turned to his 1.8 million followers on Twitter to mobilize support for The Red Cross and international aid organization FeedTheChildren, which Hammer and Cash4Gold have also strongly supported through the years.

Precious Metals Recycling Recognized on 40th Anniversary of Earth Day

Cash4Gold joined millions of Americans in celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22nd. The world’s #1 consumer gold buyer is an innovator when it comes to the recycling of precious metals.

Cash4Gold’s model is based on the recycling of unwanted or broken precious metals that consumers send to the company for cash. Once Cash4Gold processes and pays for the items, they are then sent to the melt room at the company’s state-of-the-art headquarters in South Florida. Cash4Gold then melts down the gold and silver items into large bars in an eco-friendly process.

Gold and silver used to make jewelry and coins are generally mined from the ground and manufactured. The mining for new precious metals, as opposed to recycling the material, takes a drastic toll on the planet due to the use of toxic chemicals needed to extract the metals from the earth. Coinlink.com posted this story related to the benefits of recycling precious metals.

The article mentions the term “Green Bullion” which coincidentally is also the name of Cash4Gold’s parent company – Green Bullion Financial Services. In addition, there is something particularly fitting about the term given how “green” Cash4Gold’s unique recycling service is.

Leading UK Newspaper: More Gold Scrapped Worldwide Than Mined

The Times, a leading UK-based newspaper has reported thatthere was more gold scrapped worldwide than mined during 2009. The article, which is attracting the attention of environmentally-conscious consumers, mentions Cash4Gold and credits the growth of gold buyers for this green, global phenomenon.

Precious metals analyst GFMS stated that the amount of gold sold to recycling entities like Cash4Gold increased by over 27% over the past year. According to the story, during the first quarter of 2009, there was more gold scrapped than was produced in mines worldwide.

The story also notes that the average value for an ounce of gold was $972 in 2009. At the time of this post, the current London Fix price sits at $1154.50. The current high price shows consumers that it is a great time to sell old or broken gold jewelry.

Defensive Gem Made in Baseball Last Night in San Francisco

Last week, we noted a Gold Glove-caliber defensive play from White Sox southpaw Mark Buehrle and on Tuesday night we saw an equally great diving play by Pittsburgh Pirates hurler Paul Maholm. (We follow all “gold” related activity so we felt compelled to blog about both.)

In the bottom of the third inning, a slow dribbler was hit between Maholm and first base. Maholm quickly sprinted from the mound, picked up the ball while falling to the ground, and flipped the ball from his glove to the first baseman. The radio and TV announcers were amazed that he was able to complete the difficult play. They even compared the effort to Buehrle’s play on opening day.

Buehrle received his 2009 AL Gold Glove trophy on Saturday and Maholm threw his hat into the mix for this year’s NL Gold Glove race with last night’s play seen here.

Maholm’s acrobatic effort was touted as the #1 play of the day by ESPN’s Top Plays countdown.

Cash4Gold Estimates Melt Value for Masters Trophy and Medallion

Cash4Gold today put out the following press release including the estimated melt value of the prizes handed out Sunday at the Masters golf tournament.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cash4Gold Estimates Melt Value for Masters Trophy and Medallion at $5,569

Pompano Beach, Fla. – April 12, 2010 – Cash4Gold (www.Cash4Gold.com), the trusted industry leader in mail-in gold buying, congratulates Phil Mickelson who outshot the competition at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia to win the prestigious Masters golf tournament this weekend. Mickelson was awarded the legendary Green Jacket on Sunday, along with two additional prizes including a gold medallion and a sterling silver replica of the actual Masters trophy, which is permanently housed at Augusta National.

While most golf fans know that each year the winner receives the storied Green Jacket, they might not be aware of the other items awarded to the champion.

The gold medallion that Phil Mickelson earned has a diameter of 3.4 inches and weighs 2.3 ounces. The medallion features an image of the Founders Circle at the Augusta National clubhouse. If the medallion were made of 24 karat gold, the melt value of the item would be approximately $2,645 according to an evaluation done at Cash4Gold’s state-of-the-art headquarters. Melt value refers to the value of actual precious metals content included in an item. This does not account for the item’s craftsmanship or its artistic, historic, or sentimental value.

The 10-inch wide sterling silver trophy that the winner receives weighs 12 pounds. If the 12-pound trophy is made entirely of sterling silver, Cash4Gold estimates that the melt value of the trophy is roughly $2,924.

“Phil Mickelson played extremely well this weekend to capture the Masters title, outperforming the competition at Augusta National,” said Cash4Gold CEO Jeff Aronson. “We understand that Mickelson is not likely to send in his gold medallion and silver trophy to Cash4Gold. Nevertheless we encourage other Americans to send in non-sentimental and unwanted and broken gold and silver items for cash.”

Consumers interested in requesting a Jewelry Return Pack can do so by visiting www.Cash4Gold.com or by calling 1-877-GOLD-590. Cash4Gold operates its fast, easy and secure mail-in gold buying service in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.

Gold Glove-Caliber Play Made During Baseball’s Opening Day

Cash4Gold follows all gold-related news, so we were definitely paying attention when 2009 American League Gold Glove Award-winning pitcher Mark Buehrle kicked off the 2010 season with a spectacular defensive play on Monday.

In the top of the 5th inning in Chicago, a ground ball hit straight up the middle was kicked by Buehrle’s left foot. The ball rolled toward the first base line and Buehrle proceeded to chase after it. With his back to first base, Buehrle used his glove to miraculously flip the ball through his legs to the first baseman who caught it with his bare hand, barely beating the runner at first base.

The video of Buehrle’s outstanding defensive play can be viewed here. Many highlight shows on television have already touted the play as the front-runner for the 2010 defensive play of the year.

The ace pitcher has put together quite a collection of precious metals during his stellar baseball career. In 2005, he won a World Series ring with the White Sox as the team hoisted the Commissioner’s Trophy. Buehrle also threw a perfect game during the 2009 season.

Unidentified Golden Object Plays a Role in Last Night’s NBA Game

During the Denver Nuggets game on April 1, forward Chris “Birdman” Andersen had an interesting run-in with a mystery golden object, thought by some to be a ring or coin. Andersen went down with an ankle injury during the fourth quarter on Thursday night and teammates and the training staff rushed to his aid. While trainers were examining Andersen on the floor, an unidentified golden object (UGO) fell from somewhere and landed straight in his mouth. Anderson turned his head immediately and spit out the UGO.

ESPN.com posted a story here surrounding the UGO that ended up in Andersen’s mouth. Cash4Gold is happy to evaluate the mystery nugget if Andersen or the Denver Nuggets would like to send it to the company via a pre-paid and insured Jewelry Return Pack.
